Shake Shack Shimmy

Lindsay and I woke up at 7:30 AM. 7:30 AM. On a Saturday. We had a lab due at 12 PM and we knew we had to leave by 11 AM to take the L to get to the Art Institute on time. Olivia and Kara also decided to come along, which was great because Olivia knew exactly where to go. Also, on the L we happened to literally see a man casually just jump from car to car while the L was moving. He looked behind once and just completed the feat as if wasn't a life threatening decision but a casual stroll in the park.

By the time we got to our destination, Lindsay and I were starving. We didn't get time to properly have breakfast because we were trying to finish our work. Luckily, there was restaurant nearby that was kind of on my bucket list: Shake Shack. They had one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had (which actually doesn't say much because I haven't had too many). Either way, the food was great, and I could see why there was a line out the door. But the place itself was almost even better than the food. There were high ceilings with gargoyles and designs as you would see in a church. If you liked burgers enough, you could probably even get married there.

After stuffing ourselves with burgers, fries, and milkshakes, we went to the Art Institute. We all split up depending on where we wanted to go. Cecilia and I decided to start off with the lower level since it had paperweights and miniature rooms. We were very glad that we decided to stick together as a pair because both of us are relatively bad at appreciating art. We would make jokes related to the art and find random details instead of quietly staring into the depths of the art like everyone else was.

The picture with three slabs of wood
We then went up to look at the Asian art section. There were lots of sculptures of Hindu gods that I proudly recognized. We then went to the New Contemporary section, which I found to be the best one. There was a picture that literally represented lettuce, spinach and mustard, and it was just three different colored slabs of wood put together. I loved it solely because it represented lettuce, spinach, and mustard, three foods I love.

We then headed back, and Cecilia got stuck with the responsibility of having to deal with a napping Raqeeb. He kept leaning on her with his head bobbing around everywhere. We managed to come back around 6 PM, perfectly in time for dinner. We had a long day of walking so we all just sat down in Olivia and Kara's room for a little while before doing work. And now here we are, trying to finish as much homework as possible so we can freely go on adventures tomorrow.

  1. Jahnvi,
Is there a place that Raqeeb can't fall asleep in? I think this is for you to find out.
